Suresha has three degrees in Education and
School Psychology from Kent State University, with a specialty
in Systems Intervention and Prevention. She studied the psychology
of change and wholistic interpretations of mental health,
while learning how to effectively enter an existing system
and offer more natural options to both prevent and solve problems.
After earning a black belt in karate, she went on to earn
numerous certificates of additional training in varied styles
of bodywork, shiatsu, breath therapy, and hypnotherapy.
She led groups abroad in movement, martial dance, and breath
therapy, and after working as a psychological consultant,
became an integrative therapist in the States utilizing a
broad, yet individualized approach to help balance the body,
mind, and emotions for private clients and referrals from
health centers on the East Coast. Suresha established ‘Health
Unlimited’ following a move to California in the 1980's,
and worked as an independent contractor for a physical therapist
and chiropractor, where her work began to take a more clinical
perspective.
Intrigued by “chronic” patients, she was fortunate
enough to participate in a training in Hanna Somatic Education
through the Novato Institute for Somatic Research and Training
in the early 1990's, which revolutionized her work and brought
transformative results in both acute and chronic cases. She
later became a trainer for the Institute, taught Intensives
(in her own evolution of somatic education called NeuroSomatic
Integration™ ) at Heartwood Institute for seven years,
and developed the Marin Center for Somatic Education in 2000.
